Tony & Karen Chavez are the founders of VetterCare, a platform built to give pet owners access to trusted, in-home care from experienced Veterinary Technicians.

The idea for VetterCare was born from personal experience. As pet parents to medically vulnerable dachshunds, Tony and Karen struggled to find care they could truly trust when leaving home. Traditional pet sitting wasn’t enough for dogs who required close monitoring, medication, and experienced handling. Everything changed when a veterinary technician stepped in to care for their dogs at home, giving them peace of mind for the first time in years.

Karen brings over 15 years of experience in animal healthcare and has led an Arizona-based dachshund rescue, offering deep insight into medical care, behavior, and compassionate handling. Tony contributes business leadership and a shared commitment to raising the standard of pet care through accountability and professionalism.

Together, they built VetterCare around a simple mission: to ensure pet owners never have to choose between time away and their pets’ well-being. Their home, shared with eight dachshunds and a very large tortoise named Tank, is a daily reminder of why thoughtful, skilled pet care matters.
